These ships were known for their speed and were used for smuggling. The ship is 118 feet long with a rig height of 100 feet… and 5\,000 square feet of sail! \nIt was Dennis Holland’s dream to build an accurate replica from the period when America fought for independence. Armed with talent\, determination\, little money and plans he purchased from the Smithsonian Institution\, he laid the keel in his Orange County yard on May 2\, 1970. Thirteen years later\, this fast privateer was launched and continues to sail the ocean. Everywhere you look on board is the craftsmanship and pride of early America. \nFormerly the Pilgrim of Newport\, the re-named Spirit of Dana Point is an excellent teaching platform where students directly experience life at sea as it has been for hundreds of years.  The 118-ft. schooner is used for living history and at-sea maritime programs throughout the year. \nThe Spirit of Dana Point is also available for public and private charters\, coastal sails\, corporate team building\, and filming opportunities. \nFor private charters\, events or wedding onboard the Spirit of Dana Point please e-mail: events@oceaninstitute.org \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Click here for our Refund and Ticket Transfer Policy.

Rising from the swamps of the southern delta\, their music soars with stories of red sky redemption. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Opener- Sage Escalante\n Sage Escalante is a 19 year old singer/songwriter and performer from Laguna Niguel\, California. While attending Belmont University with a major in songwriting and minoring in music business\, she hopes to propel herself into the music business here in Nashville after college. Sage plays piano\, guitar\, ukulele\, and sings. Since her first song ever written when she was 12 years old\, she released her first album in 2021 called “Youth” which she co-produced and wrote all 7 songs. Sage believes that music is healing\, and without it she wouldn’t be who she is today. In 2015\, Sage was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of cancer in her rib cage. This caused her to spend a full year in the hospital\, and spent the majority of her time writing songs with the music therapist and learning how to play more and more instruments all by herself. She wouldn’t have discovered the beauty of songwriting if not for battling the horrible disease. Sage knows that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel\, and that sometimes it take a little bit more work and time to see it fully. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n YOUR SUMMER JAMS LINE-UP\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Vicky Tafoya and the Big Beat\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Friday\, July 7 \n6:00 pm – 9:00 pm \n\n \n \n \n \n \n 1950’S RHYTHM AND BLUES \n \n VIEW MORE\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n KAREETA\n Sage Escalante- Opener \n\n \n \n \n \n \n Friday\, July 21 \n6:00 pm – 9:30 pm \n\n \n \n \n \n \n COUNTRY \n \n VIEW MORE\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n MARC FORD\nMOJAVE GHOST – opener \n\n \n \n \n \n \n Friday\, August 4 \n6:00 pm – 9:30 pm \n\n \n \n \n \n \n ROCK AND ROLL \n \n VIEW MORE\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n WHO ARE YOU SUPPORTING\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n OCEAN INSTITUTE\n Using the ocean as our classroom\, we inspire children to learn. \nThe Ocean Institute\, founded in 1977\, is a community-based 501(c)(3) organization that educates 100\,000 children\, teachers\, parents\, and visitors annually through over 60 marine science and maritime history programs. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n MUSIC PRESERVES\n Founders Patti Compton and Anthony Small teamed up to create a music foundation to inspire a deeper level of appreciation for American music and the musicians who created America’s art forms. Our mission is to inspire and educate our community through the preservation and presentation of music. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n OUR SPONSORS\n \n \n \n \n \n Gold Record Sponsor:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Hit Single Sponsor:\n \n  \nKatrina Foley Supervisor\, Fifth District County of Orange Board of Supervisors\n\n \nBEER SPONSORED BY:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Become a sponsor! \nSummer Jams Sponsorship Deck OI + MP Summer Jams – Sponsorship \nContact: anthony@musicpreserves.org or kelseyreimer@oceaninstitute.org  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Click here for our Refund and Ticket Transfer Policy.

Join the crew to help raise sail\, handle lines\, and steer the ship\, or simply sit back\, relax and enjoy the majesty of sailing the seas aboard a tallship.\nMust be 4 y.o or older to sail.\nTickets: $65\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n BOOK HERE\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About the Spirit of Dana Point \nThe Spirit of Dana Point is a traditionally built replica of a 1770s privateer schooner used during the American Revolution.
